Shelley Peterson - Emerging Technologies Lead, Lockheed Martin
Shelley Peterson, an Emerging Technologies Lead, has supported Lockheed Martin pursuits by diving into the rapidly evolving augmented reality and wearables market to integrate emerging technologies into solutions for Lockheed Martin applications.Shelley has a diverse technology and defense-based background. Her engineering skill has been utilized by electronic warfare programs for E-Systems Company, on the B-1 Bomber Simulator at Dyess AFB, and on satellite ground integration and mission operations analytics at Lockheed Martin.Early in her professional career, Shelley founded a business focused on emerging technology solutions, including military aircraft distributed mission training and multi-spectral imaging monoculars.In her spare time, Shelley teaches college mathematics as an adjunct, she enjoys volunteering for STEM events, and operates Shotlink Lasers for the PGA AT&T ProAm
Melissa Mann - Strategic Engagement & International Cyber Security Partnerships - US DHS Silicon Valley Innovation Program
Melissa currently supports strategic engagement and international cyber security partnership development for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate's Cyber Security Division and the Silicon Valley Innovation Program. A former Director of Legislative Affairs at DHS, she entered federal service as a Presidential Management Fellow. International posts include supporting cyber security research and development in Tel Aviv and serving as an Economics Officer at the U.S. Embassy New Delhi. She began her career at McCann New York. Melissa received a B.A. from Brown University and a M.A./M.Sc. in Communication and Media Studies from the London School of Economics and University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.
Lisa Carrel - Chief Sales Officer and Co-Founder of Proxfinity
Lisa is the Chief Sales Officer and Co-Founder of Proxfinity, a Chicago-based tech company. Having developed Proxfinity's sales roadmap and approach, Lisa shares her thought-leadership on selling new technology, start-up scaling, and pivoting through various speaking engagements. Among her accomplishments, her company has won the Chicago Innovation Awards, recognized as a leader in digital innovation by A.T. Kearney, WiSTEM accelerator participant, and recognized in Chicago as a top-five Chicago startup to watch. She is a member of 1871, WiSTEM, and Chicago Founders Circle.Before joining Proxfinity, she was focused on building B2B brands, sales, and multi-market team leadership.
Brendan Karp - Chief of Staff, TechNexus Venture Collaborative
Brendan Karp is an entrepreneur, having been the founder or part of the founding team of several ventures. He is currently the Chief of Staff at TechNexus Venture Collaborative. TechNexus finds, funds, and grows technology ventures in partnership with entrepreneurs and enterprises. Since 2007, TechNexus has grown over 400 technology ventures, raising $450M+ in funding. In his role, he works hands-on with the dozens of enterprises and startups that TechNexus works with, helping them rethink growth through collaboration and commercial engagement with each other. In addition, he also manages business development and operations activities. Brendan serves several organizations with education and advocacy efforts promoting and protecting entrepreneurship. He currently sits on the advisory board of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, a Washington D.C. based advocacy group. He is also deeply involved in Chicago Tech Academy, a Chicago public high school centered on teaching hands-on technology skills and entrepreneurial thought.
Christine Oksas - Head of Customer Success, StrideKick
After studying human behavior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Christine turned her sights to health tech. At Stridekick, she brings together behavior and technology to help brainstorm and build engaging wellness programs for companies, cities, schools, and organizations across the world. Christine is motivated by the idea that healthy behavior changes are achievable with a little help from wearables, and a supportive, social community.
